Ride from my house, with John, out toward Escondido, taking the freeway on a cloudy day where we occasionally had some mist (nothing heavy). Out BVP all the way to Valley Pkwy, then up the grade on Valley Center Rd. I really got a good gauge of my lower overall cycling fitness level on this climb, which was a struggle, even on the comparatively mild grades. Onto Woods Valley Rd for more climbing (with some breaks) up to the high point in the ride, just after we turned right onto Lake Wohlford Rd. From there, it was generally downhill, probably also with a little help from a tailwind, as we rode through the little village and then down the steeper grade to get back to Valley Pkwy. From here, we retraced our route back over the freeway, getting onto Pomerado Rd to add some more miles. I was generally okay on this slight incline, legs feeling fine and just needing to build up my fitness level. Up to Higa Place, then through this neighborhood onto Lomica Dr and back to Bernardo Center Dr. From there it was home via the Duenda Rd route, tired at the end but my leg muscles weren't cramping.
Avg speed = 16.4 mph. Total mileage = 39.4 mi
