Ride with David Thompson and Jim Garrett on Memorial Day. David and Christine were visiting from Reno, and I fitted out my old bike to ride for me, with David riding the new one. We headed over the pedestrian bridge to BVP, and I kept an intentionally slower pace to stay with the others. Up BVP to the 78 and then to Citrus Ave, taking it down to the trail that runs along the concrete river channel going through town. At Velley Pkwy we stopped at a CVS so that David could buy a knee brace. We rode down this trail to see the stretch that Escondido FUMC plans to adopt between Midway and Rose, it's not in terrible shape but it can definitely use some beautification. Over to Broadway, then turning to ride to El Norte Pkwy. We turned left here and kept on it until it turned into Borden Rd and out to Mulberry Dr to get over to Mission Rd. At Woodland Pkwy, we rode over to the rail trail and got on it, taking it all the way to Quince St. From there to 13th Ave and onto Centre City Pkwy. Rode to Citracado Pkwy and then turned to get onto Escondido Blvd and El Ku Ave to connect with the bike trail in Kit Carson Park. This time, we took it all the way back to BVP, then retraced our earlier route back home. The old bike was kinda uncomfortable but behaved well enough.
