Solo ride on a morning where there was rain the forecast, so I planned to keep it short and shorter if it started to rain. Headed down Yerushalaim toward Bat Yam, generally keeping parallel to the route that the Metro line will follow, until the line ended on Ha Rav Nisenbaum. I kept going to the 441, then took it into Rishon LeTsiyon, riding until it cut into the 412, where I turned and rode back toward home. The wind was steady and noticeable from the southeast, so it helped push me back home. Turned on Herzl and rode it into the city, where I made my way back toward the David and onto Kaufman. Then back home via the clock tower. For a short ride, it was a bigger workout than I had planned, mostly because of the time spent riding into the wind.

02-21-2020 Ride
Got up early in the morning, couldn't really get back to sleep, so I was riding by 6:20. Common route out Ben Zvi and the 44 to the 412, then to the 461, heading north on the 40 out to Kfar Sava. A short bit on the 55 to Neve Yamin, where I turned around and retraced my route. This is a generally flat route, and there was a slight wind, that occasionally helped and worked against me. The weather was cool. Nothing really remarkable about this day on the bike.

02-15-2020 Ride
Ride with Oren from normal starting spot in Netanya. I started both route trackers about 2 miles into the ride. Started out a little slow, and we were challenged by something of a headwind once we got onto Hwy 4 heading north. Made decent time, but it defnitely slowed us down. After some discussion, we decided to keep heading north until the 65, where we turned around and retraced our route, this time aided by a quartering tailwind that helped us out, some times more than others. We kept going north on Hwy 4 past the 67 interchange, going up to the 551 and heading west, then south, then west again until we got to a road running parallel to Hwy 2, where we turned north to get to a roadside collection of restaurants with a coffee place we had been to before. Longer stop for coffee this time, then it was back on the bikes to brave riding on Hwy 2 for about 3 km before we exited on the 553 to get onto surface streets taking us back to the starting point. I thought the ride was going to be shorter, so I was feeling it by the end, glad to be done but not experiencing pain, just tired muscles. Riding in these breezy conditions is definitely more challenging, even on a relatively flat route.

02-14-2020 Ride
Solo ride after missing riding previous weekend due to rain on both days. Day was very pleasant, standard ride out Ben Zvi and the 44 to the 40. Headed north to the 461, then back to the 44 via the 412. Back home the normal way, except for taking Herzl St to Kibbutz Galuyot. Not much wind to speak of, was slower but felt fine throughout the ride.

02-01-2020 Ride
Ride with Mark Cook, piling our bikes into my temporary lease car (a sedan) and heading out to Pedaya for the start. It was cool, not cold, and breezy. We headed out the 44 toward the 38, riding generally into a steady wind. On the climbs, Mark was hanging with me for a while then dropping back. He is working his way back into cycling shape after the holidays. I wasn't fast at all but felt okay for the most part. We headed south on the 38, riding out for about 20 miles total before turning around and retracing our route. The way back was noticeably aided by a tailwind for much of the return. I felt okay on the climbs but slower than desired, especially on that climb just after turning back onto the 44. Need more elevation gain in my rides to build my fitness back up more quickly. At one point, I had a twinge in my leg muscle, but it didn't develop into anything. I was tired out at the end and didn't have much left to push, so it was the right amount of effort for my current fitness level.
