Reset cyclometer, odometer reading was 3820 mi.
Solo ride over to the 4S Target, taking the route through the 4S Ranch neighborhood. I met up with the Bisikleta riders for the first time in over a month, due to my eye surgery. Ray and Cam had, the previous day, ridden up Mt. Haleakala, which is a supreme achievement in my book. Our ride wasn't so strenuous. On this ride were: Perse, Arnold, Andy, James, Charlie, Eric, Audrey, Kamal, Jamil, and Mohammed. We headed out Camino del Sur and before the turn Eric had a flat, splitting the group for about 15 minutes while we at the front waited for the others to catch up. Not so long after the turn onto San Dieguito Rd, both Eric and Mohammed had flats. I tried to catch up to the ones at the front to tell them, but they were already heading downhill. So I turned around and rode back to connect with the main group. Mohammed fixed his flat but it didn't hold, so he ended up turning around. The rest of us rode down into Fairbanks Ranch and turned right onto El Apajo and took Via de Santa Fe over to Via de la Valle. On this ride, I was mostly hanging with the main part of the group, riding in the middle. On the little climb up to Paseo Delicias, I matched my speed with Audrey, who was also riding after some time off from the group. We turned right and rode up to Montevideo, turning left and then taking Lago Lindo to El Camino del Norte. Rode down to Rancho Santa Fe Rd, where the group turned right and I started heading back (I thought) by turning left. Rancho Santa Fe Rd turns into Manchester Ave, and I followed it until coming to a tee, where a left turn kept me on Manchester Ave. I stopped to check my map and plot a way home. Ended up taking this road until it turned into San Elijo Ave, which got me to Chesterfield Dr and then to the 101, just a little further north (around the level of Cardiff State Beach) than I thought I would be. From here, it was a familiar route back home, staying on the 101 through Del Mar and turning on Carmel Valley Rd to get over to El Camino Real and then the 56 bike path. Up to the other Carmel Valley Rd, deciding to turn left here and shorten the route a little bit. Then it was up to Camino del Sur, turning left and following this road back to RB Rd. By this time, I was getting tired but the leg muscles were holding up. I turned on Via del Campo to head over to work and get some cash before riding home from work the normal way. It felt good to go out on a long ride. Fitness isn't great, as my average riding speed is down, but cardio didn't fail me.
