Ride after work with Blair and his girlfriend Liz. She's a really nice person, easygoing and fit. We started out heading over to Via del Campo, but I had to stop and start my ride tracking, so I got behind. I saw them ahead of me once I was riding but missed how they cut through the parking lot, so I ended up getting ahead of them. We reconnected at the turn onto RB Rd from Via del Campo, then rode to Alva Rd and turned right to ride through the 4S Ranch neighborhood. We then followed Paseo del Sur through the Del Sur neighborhood before getting onto Camino del Sur. After the downhill, I pushed the pace on the little uphill to San Dieguito Rd, and Liz was right there. We stayed on Camino del Sur until the 56 bike path, where we turned and headed west. On this stretch, all three of us kept together, I was out in the lead and the others were in the draft. Down to Carmel Valley Rd, where we turned and started heading back, benefiting from a tailwind on the return. On the little climb just before Camino del Sur, Liz pulled out and grabbed the lead. I sat on her wheel until 3/4 of the way up, then pushed ahead and coasted to the stoplight. We rode at about the same pace on the next climb, and she descended well with me down to the turn onto Dove Canyon Rd. At this point, I think she was fading just a little bit, because I put a little distance between us on that little climb. Over to Camino del Norte, turning right and slowing down a little bit at some point, when Blair developed a minor cramp. Liz wasn't into slowing down too much, so we rode over to Bernardo Center Dr, turning left to get back to the starting point. There were points in this ride where I was near my max effort, it felt good but also signaled that I've lost some of my stamina. More riding needed to get it back.
