Ride, starting from HP with Blair, over to Robert's house (17056 Palacio Place) using Via Tazon to Olmeda. From there, we met him and headed up to RB Rd, then took it west to Camino del Sur and out to Carmel Valley Rd. Robert has strong legs and good cardio from his soccer activity, and he is dogged in keeping up the pace even when it gets into the pain zone. So he kept up with me or only dropped back a little on most of the climbs during this ride. We took Carmel Valley Rd over to the 56 bike trail, and here we had the benefit of a tailwind, on the way back, to help out. On this ride, I felt like I was pushing pretty hard on all of the hills but didn't end up with a very good average speed. More riding needed. Took the bike trail back to Camino del Sur and then right onto Carmel Valley Rd. Back up and over to Dove Canyon Rd, riding up the little climb and hearing a squeak in my chain from lack of lubrication. Right onto Camino San Bernardo and back to RB Rd, where we split with Robert at Via del Campo and rode back to our starting point. Then I got my backpack and rode home.
