6-26-2010 Ride

Solo ride from home, going up Azucar and through the neighborhood to RB Rd, then over to Camino del Sur. Took this road down to Carmel Valley Rd, then over to the 56 bike trail. Pushing hard but not really hard. Bike trail all the way back to Ted Williams Pkwy, which I took to Twin Peaks Rd. Right on Community and over to Poway Rd, which I took up to Espola. I was riding on the steep section and struggling, looked down, and I was still on my big chainring. On Espola, the climb wasn't anywhere near as steep as I thought it would be. Turned right on Pomerado Rd and kept the pace pretty fast on this section all the way down to the freeway. Back home via normal way, standing on the pedals for much of the last two little climbs. Felt surprisingly good throughout this ride, given that I hadn't ridden hard for a couple of weeks. Maybe the all-day ride on Saturday in NYC helped more than I thought.

Average speed = 17.8 mph. Total mileage = 36.8 mi.
Average heartrate = 151 bpm
Total elevation gain = 1310'
