Solo ride from home, leaving around 6:30 to try and finish before it got too hot. Headed out Centre City Pkwy to Mission Rd, then down to Auto Park Way. Took a right on Country Club Dr and followed this road, mostly downhill, until it intersected with Harmony Grove Rd. This portion was flat to downhill as well until it turned onto Elfin Forest Rd, when it began a gradual climb into San Elijo Hills. At this point, I started thinking about trying to keep my speed above 10 mph for the ride. There was one small stretch on this climb that I fell below (dang it!), but this climb was nowhere near as long or as bad as I had remembered it. Took San Elijo Rd over to Rancho Santa Fe Rd, including the left turn. This stretch was mostly downhill as well. Turned left on El Camino del Norte, which was a stretch of rolling hills that connected me to Del Dios Hwy. Feeling pretty good at this point, and I climbed the entire section at over 10 mph. Don't know if this was a first, but it felt like an accomplishment. Back home by Via Rancho Pkwy and the normal route by the park. Finished strong.
