Solo ride on Sunday morning, nobody else wanted to go. Headed through the neighborhood to RB Rd and up to Camino del Norte, turning left and riding to Carmel Mountain Rd. From here, I rode the time trial route in reverse, with the minor exception of getting onto Pomerado Rd via Oak Knoll Rd. I was slow on the Pomerado Rd section, tired legs I guess. Back to RB Rd and then over to W Bernardo Dr, following the normal route home from here.

01-28-2017 Ride
Ride with Jim and John, leaving from Jim's house and getting there via Azucar Way. Over to Cabela Dr and then on to Matinal Rd, taking it up to RB Rd. Over to Camino del Sur, riding down to San Dieguito Rd and turning there. To El Camino Real, taking it up into Del Mar Heights and then down to get onto the 56 bike path. We rode this until the exit to get onto Rancho Santa Fe Farms Rd, taking it over to Carmel Valley Rd. Stayed on that road until turning onto Dove Canyon Rd, which we took back to RB Rd, retracing our route back to Jim's house, then home for me via Aguamiel Rd.

Posted long after this ride. Probably solo. Headed down by the park and over to Highland Valley Rd, riding up to a total distance of 5 miles before turning around and retracing my route back to Pomerado Rd. I rode up to Stone Canyon Rd and turned around there, riding back down to the freeway and then up W Bernardo Dr to RB Rd. Over to Olmeda Way, then surface streets through the neighborhood back home.

01-20-2017 Ride
Stationary bike ride in the early morning before work, weather outside was too wet to ride in. Watched a Netflix show, which helped to pass the time. High cardio effort in this workout, did a little better than the last time on the stationary bike. Standard classic hill-climbing routine.

01-16-2017 Ride
Solo ride in the morning on MLK Day, nobody else was able to ride. It was cool at the start but generally pleasant, and I didn't feel cold during the ride. Over the freeway to BVP and up the 78 to cut over to Citrus Ave. I rode up to Reed Rd, then took a right to head into this neighborhood and explore a little. Left on Falconer Rd, then another left onto Oak Hill Dr to get to Hayden Dr, which I found connects back to BVP. Over to Valley Pkwy and up to Hidden Trails Rd, where I took a right an again did some exploring (some climbing at the start) of this neighborhood, which is kinda nice. All the way to the end of the road, then I turned around and rode back down onto El Norte Pkwy, which I stayed on for a while across the freeway and over to Woodland Pkwy, turning left there. I rode over to Mission Rd and took it (felt like some help from a tailwind or slight downhill) to Las Posas Rd to get over to San Marcos Blvd. Short stretch up to Rancho Santa Fe Rd, where they were repaving the street, which made it a bumpy ride for a little bit. Then it was down to Melrose Dr, taking it over to San Elijo Rd and up into San Elijo Hills village. On over to Elfin Forest Rd and then to Harmony Grove Rd, where the gradual climb wasn't bad at all, although I didn't set any speed records here. I stayed on it all the way into west Escondido, turning onto the bike trail and riding over to Tulip St and then to Valley Pkwy. Onto Centre City Pkwy, where my pace was still decent, taking the normal route home from there. I had a decent push up the climb before the park, although I could tell that my leg muscles were starting to complain. Final push up to home was okay as well. This was a fairly decent ride for me, not super hilly, but I had an okay average speed.

01-14-2017 Ride
Easy beach ride with Ann while staying in Venice Beach. Rode over to the coast and on the bike trail up to a little beyond the Santa Monica Pier, where we parked our bikes and walked up to the farmer's market (not all that much stuff there) before walking back and then riding back.

01-08-2017 Ride
Ride, on my old bike, with John and Jim on the time trial route. I had to get my front derailleur shifter repaired, so it was in the shop when I rode on this Sunday. Put on my pedals, pumped up the tires, and lubricated the chain, and the bike was basically good to go. It functioned fine, generally shifting and riding well. No speed records on this day, but I felt okay on the ride. Finished in 1:06.

01-07-2017 Ride
Solo ride initially over to Dave's house, riding over the freeway and onto BVP to Beethoven Dr, then up to the bike trail through the west side of Kit Carson Park. Part of this trail is pretty rough for road bikes, but I made it through okay. Over to the road that connects into Escondido Blvd, then up to Citracado Pkwy and onto Centre City Pkwy to get to Brotherton Rd. On this way over, my front shifter broke and I couldn't shift up into my big chainring. When I got to Dave's house, I tried to fix it, but it turned out to be really broken, so I ended up having to do this ride completely in my lower chainring, which was an unpleasant, slow experience. I met up with Dave, John, and Jim, and we headed over to Escondido Blvd, riding to Felicita Ave and then onto Juniper St. Over to Idaho Ave, taking it to BVP, which we stayed on until Valley Pkwy. Over to El Norte Pkwy, taking it down to Broadway. On this ride, I did a lot of following the others, other than the sections where there was some upward incline. Out Broadway to Jesmond Dene Rd, taking it back to Centre City Pkwy and up to Deer Springs Rd. Down the hill and over to Buena Creek Rd, taking this route to get over to Santa Fe Ave and the Mission Rd. On Mission Rd near where Harbor Freight used to be (they recently moved), Jim got a flat after running over glass, so we stopped to help him fix it. Then it was back to Centre City Pkwy and home to Dave's house via Felicita Ave and Redwood St. I was pretty fed up with riding by this time, so I caught a ride home with Jim.

01-01-2017 Ride
Solo ride, leaving later in the morning and skipping church on New Year's Day. It had been raining frequently, so it was foggy and wet streets earlier. That's mainly why I waited before going. Slow pace throughout, looking just to put some miles in. Up to Duenda Rd and then down to W Bernardo Dr, taking it to RB Rd and then over to Dove Canyon Rd. Out to Bernardo Center Dr and then Carmel Valley Rd, climbing slowly up the little climb and then taking it down to Del Mar Heights Rd. It was warming up a little bit by this time. Down to Carmel Canyon Rd and then to Carmel Country Rd to get over to the 56 bike trail, which I took down to El Camino Real. Stayed on this road over to San Dieguito Rd, turning and riding steadily over to the 3 Witches climb, which was definitely a slow one for me on this day. Back to Camino del Sur, taking it to Paseo del Sur and riding slowly through the neighborhood to Potomac Ridge Rd and then turning right onto Nighthawk Ln to get over to Camino San Bernardo. Then it was a slow slog to get back to RB Rd, then home via W Bernardo Dr. Cardio was okay, just not push in my legs, along with no desire to put much effort into it.
