07-23-2025 Walk
Another travel day, this one shorter than the previous. I woke up before 6:00, put the bike on the roof rack, then showered and packed up my stuff in the car. Ann did the same, and we headed over to the nearby Denny's for breakfast using vouchers from the motel. I like eating breakfast out, but that place can be avoided in the future. The eggs tasted funny, coffee was just a little weak. Still, it filled us up, and we were on our way. This part of the drive home was not so exciting. Boring roads until we got onto I-15, where we had to deal with an annoying traffic slowdown from the start of the descent all the way past the Wrightwood exit. There was road construction, and they had closed a lane off, so after we got past that it was much better. We took the I-215 route, a little congestion around the intersection with Hwy 60, but other than that we made good time all the way back. Home around 11:15, and we unpacked the car and stowed the camping gear. Then I got ready for my volunteer shift at the hospital, didn't really want to lay around the house and sleep, which is probably what I would have done. Nothing too remarkable about the shift, was slow in the first half (I was pretty tired but snapped out of it) and pretty busy in the second half. When I left, I think every bed in the ED was full. Rode home and gave Mom a quick call to see how she was doing. She seemed to be in pretty good spirits. Ate dinner and then took a little walk after dinner to finish getting my steps in. I watched some TV, and that was the evening.
