07-17-2025 Hike/Walk

Travel day. I woke up early enough to get a short hike in before coming back to the campsite and making breakfast. I started up a pretty steep path but didn't have the time to go further, so I turned back. Made eggs and grilled vegetables with coffee, then we started breaking camp. Ann cleaned up and packed the cooking gear while I took down and packed up most of the rest of the stuff. We are getting pretty efficient at this, and I created enough room to add in the two bundles of firewood that Todd had left for us. On the road by 8:30. The drive to Reno was winding and occasionally scenic, also slowed down by a couple of traffic stops for road work. Highway speed limit dropped after we got into Nevada, then picked up once we got onto the interstate. We stopped to buy flowers before we got to the Thompson's house a little after 11:30. Danny was visiting from Kentucky, on his way to a sword-fighting martial arts tournament in the Bay Area over the weekend. We chatted through the afternoon, then Josh, Shelby, and their son Oliver came over for a Mediterranean food dinner. Nice to see them and hear about their lives. Oliver was a prime focus of entertainment. After they left we chatted a little more about Danny's future ministry plans, then I went for a evening walk around the neighborhood to finish getting my steps in. To bed after a pretty long once I got back.
