07-22-2025 Walk

Travel day, so I went for a longer early morning walk to get most of my steps in. Got back around 7:30, and Ann was up and planning on leaving around 8:15. She had the right idea, I don't know where I came up with the thought of leaving around 10. So I packed our camping gear back into the car, along with the food into the cooler, my stuff, and the bike, then we were off. We stopped for a little gas and ice and snacks, then we followed the same route back into Bishop, taking some side streets there to avoid road work. Had lunch at the Pupfish Café, which was decent but had a long wait for the food to arrive. Then Ann drove us down to Ridgecrest, near China Lake. This is a pretty desolate town, at least the section by where our motel was. We got checked in to a very basic motel, no frills at all but clean and comfortable enough, then we walked over to DJ's Bar for happy hour. Ann had a margarita and I had a very large beer in this giant glass mug. Was pretty buzzed by the time I finished it, and we walked (me carefully) back to the room to figure out where to go for dinner. A little time for the alcohol to wear off somewhat for me, then we ate at a place serving Thai and Vietnamese food, both of us had Thai food. Then we got gas and headed back to the room for an early night in preparation for the next travel day.
