11-27-2025 Run

Woke up shortly after 6:00 after having gotten up early in the morning to watch TV and eat some breakfast. Got ready for the North County Turkey Trot with Laura. We, along with Joe, headed over to 4S Ranch Pkwy, parked there and walked quite a ways, maybe a mile, to the park where the starting line was. We got there with maybe 10 minutes to spare, a little too close for my comfort. Started near the back, having to dodge lots of walkers and kids who were also at the back. I jogged at Laura's pace as we ran over to Dove Canyon Rd and then down to Carmel Valley Rd. We headed over to Wine Creek Rd, turned there and shortly after got on a dirt path. This went up and down for a bit, then started gradually up for quite a while before we came around a corner and saw a short steep switchback to the crest of the run. Up there, Laura stopped briefly at the top for some water and to catch her breath. We ran through a neighborhood for a bit and then took another switchback down to the final stretch.

Avg pace = 11:22/mi
Total distance = 3.13 mi
Elapsed movie = 35:39
Avg heartrate = 166 bpm (Zepp, not to be believed)
Relative Effort = 97 (Not to be believed)

Joe was there capturing a video of us near the finish, and Laura put in a final push to cross the line at speed. We hung around to hear the finish times of the runners, then walked back to her car and drove home, stopping at Donut Touch on the way (I didn't know that Ann had made beignet dough). Got home, had a donut that was pretty good. Later, I watched the Packers-Lions game with Joe, who is an intense fan for his team. Thankfully, they won. Had a quiet afternoon, read a little bit and briefly rested my eyes before getting back up and watching a little bit of the Cowboys-Chiefs game. I also chopped vegetables for dinner. Evening was quiet, did some reading and that was about it.
