08-13-2025 Walk
Was originally going to ride in the morning, but I decided to focus on getting everything ready for the camping trip. That was a good plan (<>). I had plenty of time to think about the list and make sure that it was both complete and loaded into the car. Didn't worry too much about packing my backpack, since I'll have Friday morning to do the final loading there. I shaved and showered, then Ann cut my hair, which was looking a little wooly. After that, she headed off to the beach. I left early and rode to Walmart to get some soda and extra camp stove fuel. Also got a veggie burrito at Taco Taco. It was huge and pretty expensive. I rode to the hospital and ate my food, along with fries, an ice cream bar, and a Pepsi. I was pretty full, couldn't finish the fries. Volunteer shift was steadily busy, not a whole lot of standing around. Another med tech, Ashley, was training with Arissa on admin tasks. I left around 4:10 and hurried home to change clothes and drive to Shak's Mediterranean Restaurant in Vista to meet up with some retired HP folks. Talked to George Lynch and his companion Phyllis, along with Guillermo (Memo) and his wife Roxanne, who is recovering from a mild stroke. Also Marita Saxton, who lives in RB. These folks are older than we are by at least five years. Dinner was okay, not good enough to go back to the restaurant. Then we drove to Moonlight Amphitheatre to see Fiddler on the Roof with the HP retirees. There I talked to Rand Newman and his wife Diane, who were very nice. The show was decent (on the whole, very solid performers in the lead roles), but I was really tired and had trouble focusing on the performers. I dozed a little bit during the first act but stayed mostly awake after the intermission. Ann drove home on dark back roads that took us out to Buena Creek Rd, a very roundabout way of getting home. I was tired and irritable, and Ann was driving maddeningly slowly. She must really not trust her night vision at all. Go home a little before 11:30 and packed most of the camping stuff in the car, all except the things going into the cooler and my gym bag. Got to sleep okay.
