08-27-2025 Ride

Fairly normal day. Got up for an early-morning ride, following the time trial route up to Poway Rd and then going straight, to Scripps-Poway Pkwy, where I turned left and rode all the way up to the 67. The ride up the Purple Monster was reasonably fast, tried to stay in regular cadence all the way through. Was off my PR time by less than 30 seconds. I ended up setting a PR on the stretch from Pomerado Rd all the way up to the summit (25:28, 205 W, 139 bpm), although it didn't feel that fast overall. I must have hit a number of the lights green. The ride back down was a little sketchy toward the end, I got wobbly and had to slow down somewhat, but it was alright. Turned right on Stowe Dr and took this back down to Pomerado Rd for a change. I pushed a little harder than usual on the return route up Pomerado Rd, trying to keep my average speed higher. Reversed my route all the way home, total distance was a little less than I had wanted but I couldn't motivate myself to extend the ride.

Avg speed = 16.9 mph. Total mileage = 28.1 mi
Avg power = 145 W. Weighted avg power = 187 W
Total elevation gain = 1950'
Avg heartrate = 119 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 40
Training Load = 127
Intensity = 85%

Had cereal for breakfast when I got home, later made some toast and watched a little TV in the morning. Ann went to Craft Group at church. I shaved and showered, then left a little early for my volunteer shift so I could stop at Walmart and drop off the two MicroSD cards that just didn't work for me. Still got to the hospital a little early, had french fries, a Pepsi, and an ice cream bar for a light lunch, then started my volunteer shift. There was a new nurse, Gigi, and another nurse, Courtney, who I may have seen before but haven't worked with much. Anessa was back, hadn't seen her in a long time. It got really busy in the second half, which made the time go more quickly. Headed home after that and, after dinner, we went to Dairy Queen for ice cream (Ann had cut my hair and stitched up my cycling shoe). Was a quiet evening after that.
