08-23-2025 Run

Slept pretty well after a real workout day on the bike (<>). Went out for a run in the morning, trying to get done before the temperature climbed. Headed over to Puddingstone Reservoir, which curiously I had never been to. This run took me by the Pomona NHRA dragstrip and a nearby airport that I was unaware was there. It was an out-and-back run, I stopped to take a picture of the lake before turning around. For some reason, Strava didn't capture this workout, even though it was active during the run. I estimated the running time and pretty much knew the route, but I don't have other results from the run.

Avg pace = 8:02/mi
Total distance = 5.35 mi
Elapsed moving time = 44:00 (est.)

Susan had made coffee cake for breakfast, so I had some of that when I got back, along with some coffee. We chatted and generally hung out at their place in the morning. I did drive over to Target and buy a pair of shorts, since I'd only brought gym shorts with me. We went to Butter Cafe in San Dimas for lunch, and the breakfast tacos and tater tots were pretty good. Afterward, we went to the American Museum of Ceramic Art, which was a mildly entertaining diversion. I liked some of the practical ceramic art displays, and my conversation with Ed as we walked around was, as usual, interesting. Back to their place after that, where we had a little bit of downtime before folks started showing up for the potluck dinner. The following couples made it: Combs, Little, Harris. It was great catching up with them, particularly Scott and Janette, whom we had not seen in quite a while. Scott is taking a new job soon, one with a long commute, hopeful that it works out. Gabe is now Bethany, and Ruthie and her boyfriend have been set up in a small place in Lake Arrowhead, living with them was too stressful. Jake bought a house in Tucson recently with his boyfriend Larry, they seem to be settling down. Spence Little is an aerospace engineer working for Blue Origin at Edwards AFB and living in a place he bought in Wrightwood with his nurse girlfriend. Samantha and her husband live in Scottsdale and have two kids. Nathan and his wife live in Utah (Salt Lake City?) and have a couple of kids, while Aubrey (formerly Andrew) lives near Boston and appears to be happy in her life. Was a pleasant evening, we stayed up a little after everybody left and chatted with Ed and Susan, I was pretty tired again by the end of the day.
