Bisikleta ride, meeting Jhonar on the way over to Gideon's house, no Robert this time. Over the normal way to the 4S Target. On this ride, there were: Ray, Gideon, Kamal, Charlie, Eric, Rory, Audrey, Alan (new from Gideon's 50th ride), Fritz, Darnell, and Jhonar. Headed out to San Dieguito Rd and then down into the flats, where we had a partially successful pace line until it got blown up in the middle and had to reform. Then over El Camino Real to Via de la Valle and down to the coast highway. On this ride, I was mostly successful in staying near the front and catching up with riders who tried to get out ahead. Pretty good pace throughout, matching how fast Ray was riding in nearly all cases and even getting ahead of him toward the end. Took the coast highway north to La Costa Ave, maybe a slight tailwind on the way north but not so much. Stop at the 7-Eleven, break wasn't incredibly long this time, as it was humid and heating up. We decided to ride back down to Carmel Valley Rd and get over to the 56 bike trail, taking it up to Carmel Valley Rd and then over to Camino del Sur. Around this time, I was feeling the effects of my effort in my quads, but they recovered enough for me to push a decent pace on the way back in, including a flat-out sprint at the end with Gideon, whose legs were cramping (I don't know how or why he did that). Relatively flat ride for us, no real hills to take on, so my average speed was good.
Avg speed = 18.1 mph. Total mileage = 52.9 mi
Total elevation gain = 2060'
