09-11-2023 Entry

Staying at the Yellowstone Lodge in a cabin, which was very nice. We had a little breakfast at the coffee kiosk, got some bread and peanut butter at the general store, and saw Old Faithful erupt before packing up and getting on the road. Drove up to Norris Geyser Basin and walked around there. It was decent, not as good as the geysers around the Lodge, but it was a fine walking loop. Back to the car and driving over to the Yellowstone Grand Canyon, where we stopped and walked on a trail that had a good view of the upper falls of the Yellowstone River. I walked a little further down the trail before heading back up. Then we drove to the viewpoint for the Lower Falls, which was pretty impressive. This was along the North Rim, and we decided to skip the South Rim drive because of time. Was a kinda long drive to West Thumb, which Ann wanted to see. That little looping trail wss better than expected, the Black Pool was cool, and there was a little spouting geyser right by the lakeshore that was interesting. Beck in the car for the drive to Pat's house, where we got stuck behind some slow drivers, annoying. Still, we made decent time and were back before 5:00.  Soup for dinner and then getting packed up for the next day.
