04-03-2025 Swim/Walk

Had my first good night's sleep since I got sick. Moved back into our bed in the early morning, maybe that helped (<!>). Then I got ready for a swim at the WWC, aiming for 2000 yds. Streets were wet but I got there without getting rained on. Had a decent workout this time, better than last time but still not close to where I was before our trip. I was able to keep my 20-stroke count throughout. I finished the primary workout and added in another 250 with the pull buoy, was around 18-strokes per length. Here are the splits from the workout (500, 500, 500, 500, 100, 250): 9:23, 9:47, 9:58, 10:08, 2:00, 4:42. Afterwards, I showered and rode to HP for coffee with Gary, John, and Brooke. I left a little early to head home and suited up for the long scooter ride down to Mission Valley Mall to meet Charlie for lunch. I thought I knew where I was going but missed a turn when I was on Sandrock Rd and had to backtrack, phone wasn't getting a good cell signal either, which was a problem. I rode down to very close to the mall but ended up riding around the area for about 10 minutes until I finally figured out how to get to the mall. Of course, I ended up parking on the opposite side of the mall where were I was meeting him, so more delay. He was very gracious about it. We had lunch at Havana, a pretty good Cuban restaurant for being in a mall, was his choice and a fine one at that. Didn't get lost on the way back, but it ended up taking me about an hour, with walking and riding. Thankfully, I didn't get rained on, although I was dressed in preparation. When I got home, I watched some TV, had a very short nap, and then caught up on blogging and Strava route investigation for the Friday and Saturday rides. After dinner, I talked to Laura for about an hour about her job situation and career trajectory, offering some specific examples from critical decision points in my career. I hope it was helpful for her. I then set up the last of the chocolate chip cookies for baking and went out for a short walk to finish getting my steps in. Had several conversations in the evening about Saturday's ride, and now it looks like we are going to attempt the century. I edited our original planned route to take out a fair portion of the elevation gain, now we are at about 4000' for the century. Hoping for good weather on Saturday to make the attempt.
