Had another good night's sleep, even better than the previous night (<>) I think I'm basically done with my cold, although it will take some time to recover my cardio, I'm guessing. Went for an hourlong walk in the morning (it was in the low 40s) to get some steps in. For at least half of the walk, there was another lady following me at my pace, it was kinda weird. Saw Jim getting ready to go to work and said hi. I ate some breakfast when I got home, relaxed for a while, then changed out the tires on my bike to the ones I use for my significant rides, the planned century tomorrow in this case. Then I rode through the neighborhood and to the Starbucks off Dove Canyon to meet Paula for a short lunchtime ride. I went up Calenda Rd for a change. We took Lone Quail Rd from there back to Camino del Sur and turned right. Rode down to Artesian Rd and turned right there as well, taking it all the way to the bottom and the water crossing. Turned around there and rode back up the climb, slowly. Once we got back to Camino del Sur, we turned right and took it back to the neighborhood past San Dieguito Rd that I had recently explored. We rode a similar route through that neighborhood back to Camino del Sur and started heading back from there. Back to Paseo del Sur, where we turned right. Another right onto Haaland Glen, and we stopped while I attempted to adjust the cleat on her cycling shoe. That took about 10 minutes, then we continued on. Turned right onto Paseo Montenero, then over to Kristen Glen (stopped to look at the valley off to the south) to get back to Paseo del Sur. From there, we rode to Potomac Ridge Rd and Nicole Ridge Rd to Camino San Bernardo. Back to Dove Canyon Rd and our meet-up point. She told me about Organ Pipes National Monument, then I headed back home the new normal way. Ride wasn't that stressful, but it felt good to be out and at times to put my legs under tension.

When I got home I charged up my derailleur batteries and my bike taillight for the Saturday ride. Then I put gas in the mower, and it started right up. Mowed down the long grass and weeds in the back yard, then came in and changed my dental cleaning appointment. The rest of the afternoon was restful, watched some TV and did a fair amount of reading. Had a relatively light dinner, hoping that's enough calories and carbs to get me through the big day tomorrow.
