04-07-2025 Swim/Run

Slept well again, even though it wasn't a very strenuous day on Sunday. I got up, had some pancakes for breakfast, then cleaned the kitchen before getting ready for a swim and a run. Weather is really nice these days, cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Swim was broken up into two 750s with about 3 minutes to recover in between. Here are the splits: 14:01, 14:06. Not too bad for the fall-off on the second 750, but I would like to be significantly under 14 minutes for this distance before the upcoming sprint tri. After the swim, I changed into my running clothes and went for what turned out to be a slow run. Just didn't have a lot of drive in my legs, although my last mile was significantly faster than the first two.

Avg pace = 8:14/mi
Total distance = 3.09 mi
Elapsed moving time = 25:28
Avg heartrate = 144 (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 26

I switched my tires back to the usual ones, away from the significant ride tires I use. Ann went to several stores and stocked up on dry goods in anticipation of rising prices. Rode over in late morning to have lunch as Mama Cella's with Howard and Yi-Hua. He is 4 weeks removed from back surgery to repair a bulged disc. Yikes! He was feeling numbness in his lower extremities and couldn't sit for long periods of time. Other issues as well. Now he is feeling better but still in recovery mode to allow the scar tissue to stabilize the area around the disc. I also heard a little of their origin story. Watched a little TV in the afternoon, then went out in the back yard and weeded for about an hour. It was pretty warm in the sun. I talked to Mom in the afternoon, she was in a pretty good mood. Evening was quiet, I'm now reading Cixin Liu's The Dark Forest, second in the trilogy. It's a little slow at the start, I'm trying to see where the main storylines will be. Was pretty happy when the Gators won the men's basketball championship. They weren't dominant during the tournament, but they were resilient and refused many times to give up when down by significant points.
