Travel day. It was really windy in the night, both of us were hoping the wind would die down but it didn't. I had trouble getting to sleep because of the noise, we got up around midnight to pee. I was able to get some sleep after that. We broke camp and were on the road, with Ann driving, by about 8:40. Through Carlsbad and on to Roswell, where the entire downtown area seemed to be alien-themed. The reason we went downtown was to get to a Walmart. Bought groceries for the next couple of days there, as well as a new wash bin and more ice. Packed it all up in the parking lot and continued on, with me driving. We drove to Turquoise Creek Campground, a nice private one, with WiFi and showers, outside Albuquerque. I missed the exit the first time and had to circle back. Got there late afternoon, around 3:15, and we did an abbreviated camp setup, no vestibule or Coleman lantern. It was at around 7000' elevation, warm and sunny with just a breeze. After setting up camp, I went for a run, first around the park, which didn't take long, then out to the highway and heading north. I got to a private road and turned there to run up it for a while before turning around and essentially retracing my route. No records on this day, I could definitely feel the effect of the altitude.

The shower after the run felt really good, and my legs didn't really feel stressed from the run. We made tacos for dinner, they were tasty. We didn't really eat much during the day, just yogurt and toast for breakfast and sandwiches when we got to the campsite. A quick cleanup and tidying of the site, then a walk around the RV area, whee it was really quiet. before going to sleep. We bundled up in anticipation of temperatures in the high 30s.
