11-08-2024 Swim

Woke up (<>) and had a little breakfast before going to the WWC for a swim. It was still Santa Ana conditions but not so windy, chilly on the ride over there. I swam for 2000 yds with no aids and no stops, finishing in under 40 minutes. Felt like my stroke was consistent, I didn't push too hard, just attempted to keep my stroke count down. I rode home after that, and Ann and I decided to run some errands in San Marcos. So in a while we headed out, went to Costco to get memberships, then we stopped at Home Depot to return some caulk and buy stuff to protect the garden. Finally, we looked at coffee tables at a couple of furniture stores, prices were pretty scary. Will consider other options, including buying something unfinished and finishing it myself. We had lunch at a ramen place in San Marcos, was decent, although vegan ramen is just not as good as the real thing. Then we headed over to east Escondido to look at thrift stores for clothes to wear to the dinner on Saturday evening. Scored a couple of good finds. We headed home after that, and I had no success in bleeding my rear brake. So, I'll ride my old bike tomorrow and ask some of the riders for advice, and perhaps additional fittings, on how to bleed the brakes. I talked to Mom later, after Ann and I went for a walk, and the conversation was cordial until she started venting about the Wells Fargo bank statements. I listened for a bit, then encouraged her to trust her sons with getting it resolved. We'll see if I bought some time for Mark to get back to her and settle her down with the information he has learned.
