11-10-2024 Ride

Woke up but, for a change, decided not to ride in the morning. Instead, I looked again at bleeding the brakes on my bike and found tat I still don't have an adapter for the bleeder port on the piston block. Dang it! I went out into the backyard instead and put the protective plastic fence around the perimeter. It needs to be staked up, but that should be fairly easy. I hung around the house for the rest of the morning, then after a light lunch went for a bike ride. I hoped to borrow a bleeder port adapter from Gideon, so I rode through the neighborhood to his house after texting him, but he didn't reply. I kept on riding up to RB Rd, and after climbing to the top he got back to me. I rode back to his place, and he showed me the bleed kit he has. It was too big to carry for a long distance, so I told him I'd stop by on the return. Back up to RB Rd, then over to Camino del Sur, taking it to the 56 bike path. This was a recovery ride day, so I dialed the effort way back. It was a nice time to be riding, warm but not hot, not as dry as previous days. There was an offshore breeze, so when I turned left onto the bike path it helped me along nicely. I rode up to Salmon River Rd, then jogged over to Paseo Montalban to get to Black Mountain Rd. Again, an easy pace here to Carmel Valley Rd, taking the little climbs at lower speeds. The downhill to Dove Canyon Rd was fast with a tailwind, then I rode back over to RB Rd and headed to Gideon's house again. He and Lutchi had gone to Costco, so I missed picking the kit up. I rode down the hill and over to W Bernardo Dr, then home from there. It was nice to ride a shorter route at easy pace.

Avg speed = 14.5 mph. Total mileage = 22.7 mi

Not much activity in the afternoon. I put the new strike plate for the deadbolt on the side garage door, had to chisel some extra space for it to fit. We went over to Emily and Caleb's place for our birthday dinner, Mexican food and chocolate cake. There was a lot of discussion about their cats. Max still isn't drinking enough water, and they are picky about their food. But they came out after dinner and played around a bit before we left.
