11-21-2024 Ride

It was cold when I woke up but warmed up quickly (<>). I probably overdressed for the bike ride but never felt too hot with my layers. Through the neighborhood, then the extended route through the 4S Ranch neighborhood to get to Camino del Sur. From there, I set a good but not scorching pace, heading out to San Dieguito Rd and turning there. Down the hill (it was warm enough by this time) and onto the flats, where I kept a good pace throughout. Over El Camino Real to Via de la Valle, taking it down to PCH, where I turned left. I rode up through Del Mar, again at decent pace, and got to Carmel Valley Rd. At this point, my average speed was over 17 mph, and I figured I would end up with a speed in the 16s. But I had a decent stretch back on the 56 bike path and just kept it going. Back home using Camino del Sur to RB Rd, pushing hard at this point to keep my speed above 17 mph. Home via W Bernardo Dr, and a strong finish.

Avg speed =17.5 mph. Total mileage = 40.8 mi
Avg power = 149 W. Weighted avg power = 175 W
Total elevation gain = 2200'
Avg heartrate = 124 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 58
Training Load = 126
Intensity = 72%

I had a shower when I got home, along with a short break, before heading over to Pailin Thai Cafe to meet Blair for lunch. He was excited about his trip to Boise, where he liked what he saw, found a house, and signed a contract for it. So he will be moving to Boise in early 2025. I'm happy for him but sad for me that he will be moving. It's the right career and personal decision, though. In the afternoon, I read some and had a chill time. Ann and I talked about Japan travel options after dinner, and she is pretty excited about it. We're thinking 3 weeks there seems about right, including travel days. Quiet evening, watched some football.
