11-11-2024 Swim

Woke up and got ready for a swim at the WWC. Even though it was a little bit chilly, there were a surprising number of people there for swimming. I did a 500 as a warm-up, in about 9:30, then 5 100s, each at a 1:45 pace. I finished up with another 500 using the pull buoy. My stroke length was pretty consistent throughout, about 22 in the first 1000 and closer to 20 in the last 500. At times, I felt like I was actually swimming like I'm supposed to. After I got home, I started preparing the railing on the stairs for getting repainted, as it has been looking ragged for some time. Masked some areas off, then I started painting. It went fairly slowly, as there is a lot of detail work. I painted for a while, then I took a break as Ann and I drove down to Home Depot and H Mart in Mira Mesa. We bought some gardening stuff at the first place, including 1x2s to use as supports for the plastic garden fencing we bought and which I had put up the previous day. Some general Asian food supplies at the latter place, including a fair amount of processed and prepared food. We drove home, and I spent the afternoon cutting the wood into 4' lengths and pounding them into the ground to support the fencing. Ann went to the Leah circle meeting after dinner, so I put a lot of light around the stairs and did a second round of painting. At the end, I estimate that I am about 2/3 done.
