05-04-2025 Swim/Ride

Ann woke up really early, the cat was being annoying. I got up a little later, after having had a pretty vivid series of dreams during the night. Caught up on blogging, cleaned the kitchen, then got ready for a swim at the WWC. It had rained in the night, and the roads were wet, but the rain had largely stopped. Was still overcast. There was one more swimmer while I was in the pool, not a popular day for early swimming. I tried to keep my stroke count at 19-20 and was successful. Was less successful at maintaining a consistently powerful pulling stroke, and I could feel the effects of the workout in my shoulders when I was done. Ended up swimming 1650 yds, taking a pause, then doing another 250 with the pull buoy to keep working (not so successful) on my stroke form. Here are the splits for the 3 500s, a 150, and the last 250 with the pull buoy: 9:34, 9:50, 9:52, 2:52, 4:41. Not terrible for being out of the pool for a couple of weeks, but I have work to do to prepare for a sprint tri in June. Ann had gone to church when I got home, so I had some time to chill before getting ready for a bike ride with Joe. The weather was iffy, but we decided to give it a shot and stay relatively nearby. Through the neighborhood to W Bernardo Dr and then to RB Rd, which we took to Espola Rd. We had a little bit of light drizzle initially, but it didn't get worse and eventually cleared up, with overcast skies. We rode through the Bridlewood neighborhood to cut through back to Espola Rd. Then it was down to Twin Peaks Rd, turning there and taking it to Community Rd. To Poway Rd where we turned right and rode over to have coffee at Idego Coffee. Coffee was excellent, as was the conversation. From there we headed down Poway Rd to Sabre Springs Pkwy, taking it and Rancho Carmel Dr to Carmel Mountain Rd. To Paseo del Sur and over to Bernardo Heights Pkwy, home from there via Bernardo Center Dr. Joe was a little late but not too bad. It was an enjoyable easy ride.

When I got home, I had a light lunch and watched some TV. Ann went to a youth musical with Emily, so I worked on trying to understand my Google Photos storage. Now I understand that if a photo or video is stored there by syncing with my phone, it won't be deleted if I delete the photo from the phone, only if I delete it from Google Photos. Was an easygoing afternoon. In the evening we had dinner at MexicanBar with Rob, who is traveling to Dublin and then France for an extended vacation. Was a nice time.
