05-23-2025 Walk/Swim
It had been a while since I went out for a walk, so I got up and going fairly early, walking on familiar streets through the neighborhood for a little less than an hour. I ate some cereal and a banana for breakfast before I left. When I got back, I had just a little time to get ready for a swim at the WWC. Originally intended for it to be a longer swim, but when I got there I shortened the workout and increased the effort. Started off with a 550 to warm up, then I swam 5 100s at higher pace. Took breaks between to catch my breath. Finished up with two 250s, one without and the second with a pull buoy. My stroke count was decent throughout, usually in the 18-20 range, but I'm still not feeling so comfortable with my swimming. That will be the focus of my workouts next week. Here are the split times for these intervals: 10:33, 1:44, 1:45, 1:45, 1:42, 1:42, 4:37, 4:28. Time for more yardwork when I got home. I finished clearing growth from around the furthest sprinkler head in the upper bed, and I worked for a little bit on sifting and clearing the gravel path in the front yard. This is one of my least favorite tasks that requires regular doing. I tried the sprinkler line that I had repaired the previous day and found another huge crack in the drip line. This time, I cut out a larger section, taking the time to cut out the couplings and slowly remove the plastic tubing from them so they could be reused. I buried this section of the drip line to reduce its exposure to direct sunlight. Watched a little TV as a break and ate a light lunch. In the afternoon, I took it easy., had a longer nap. After a carb-loading dinner, we drove down to University Heights to see Casey Abrams at Lou Lou's Club. It was stressful finding a parking spot on the street, but I eventually found one. The show was more to Ann's liking than mine. I was tired and not in the mood for average music. Ann drove home, and I was ready to go to sleep, thankful it wasn't a late night.
