05-26-2025 Swim/Run

Woke up fairly early, still got a good night's sleep (<!>). I spent a little time looking at security camera reviews to try and decide which brand to buy and what types. Ate a banana and fixed three drip sprinklers in the back yard before heading over to the WWC. Nobody was waiting to get in when I arrived, and I had the pool to myself for the first 5 lengths or so. Then folks started showing up, so that after my first 500 there was a guy swimming right next to me, and he wasn't so experienced. I just settled in and got my 1550 yds in, slower than I wanted but done. I had to resist the urge after 1000 yds to get out and call it a day, but I kept going. Here are the splits for the 3 500s and the last 50: 9:47, 9:54, 9:49, 0:54. As I said, pretty slow. When I got out, I went into the locker room and changed for a slow run on the 5k course from the WWC. First two miles were slower than I've run in quite a while, and I picked up the pace a little on the last mile+. Heartrate was lower on this run, as expected by my slower pace.

Avg pace = 8:26/mi
Total distance = 3.13 mi
Elapsed moving time = 26:26
Avg heartrate = 126 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 7

When I got home, it was time for breakfast, so I ate some cereal and then cleaned the dishes for the first time on this day. It was a relatively quiet afternoon. I swapped back my bike tires and got my newer chain, rewaxed, packed to be ready to use when needed. I also cleared out several patches of the pea gravel path, sifting the dirt from the gravel so it can be cleaned and put back in. In the later afternoon I grilled up the chicken and vegetables, then showered before dinner. John, Vivian, Brooke, and Stephen came over for dinner, and we had a nice conversation and meal.
