05/16/2025 Walks

Travel day. I needed to be at the airport by 5:20 or so, and I wasn't going to get much chance for walking. I got up at 3:30 and walked around the neighborhood for about 45 minutes, then ate a quick breakfast and had a shower before leaving home. Was a little worried when I saw the line going through security at the airport, but it went quickly, and I was at the gate with plenty of time to spare. Short hop up to LAX, then about 2 hours before my flight to Boise left. The coffee and food at the airport were ridiculously expensive, so I bought a Coke instead. Flight to Boise was uneventful, got there ahead of schedule, but Blair was waiting. We drove to a Thai food restaurant near the HP campus, it was okay. Spent some time visiting the site and seeing the labs, along with Eric, Guangjin, and Brad Dransfield. Then we met Guangjin for drinks at a bar not too far from the HP campus. Nice conversation catching up, GJ and his wife bought a brand new house here. His older son is working as a quality engineer for Dexcom in Mesa, AZ, while his younger son is back east, working for Capital One. He sounds happy, would like for there to be more Asians in the area but is okay with that. After drinks and appetizers Blair and I drove to his new place, and he proudly showed me all around the house. We went for a 20-minute walk around the neighborhood and sat out on the back porch talking and drinking. A nice evening, I was tired from a long day and went to bed shortly after.
