03-02-2026 Swim

Slept okay, did wake up a couple of times in the night but got back to sleep. Had some cereal and a banana for breakfast, then later a piece of pumpkin bread (<!>). In the morning Gideon dropped off my bike tool box and the rest of the snacks he had been carrying. I swapped out my Canyon bike tires for the Enve tires, might as well use them until they wear out. They're quite difficult to put on the rims. Then I drove over to the AAA office in Escondido and got an international driving permit, which might come in handy in Vietnam or Italy. In the late morning I noticed that the version of data storage files I thought was the latest was actually from 2024. I had a minor panic attack until I realized I had another backup saved, so no files lost, as far as I can tell. I updated the files on the D: drive so that they are the latest,, then went for a short swim at the WWC. Swam 1000 yds at a slower pace, again concentrating on keeping my stroke long (and slow in this case). The splits for the two 500s were: 9:32, 9:41. I also swam a 100 using backstroke, still wandering all over the lane but getting a little faster.

Avg pace = 1:55/100 yds (Video, not including pause after first 1000)
Total distance = 1000 yds
Elapsed moving time = 18:49 (Video)
Avg heartrate = 159 bpm (Zepp, probably not)
Relative Effort = 65 (probably not)
SWOLF = 38
Avg stroke rate = 21 bpm
Avg pull distance = 2.32 yds

Here are the backstroke data:
Avg pace = 2:33/100 yds (Video)
Total distance = 100 yds
Elapsed moving time = 2:33 (Video)
Avg heartrate = 136 bpm (Zepp)
Relative Effort = 2
SWOLF = 57
Avg stroke rate = 21 bpm
Avg pull distance = 1.18 yds

When I got home, I copied all the photo and video files from my phone to the D: drive as well, so I won't lose any older files if my phone gets damaged on the trip. Then I backed all these data up to a portable hard drive. Gathered most of the stuff I'll take on the trip to Vietnam and organized it. I started going through the WhatsApp files on the PC to delete the ones not needed. That is going to take a long time. I the evening and into the night I went through the chore of checking in for the flight, which necessitated working with an online agent to change the name on my ticket. Didn't get done until well after 11:00. Pretty frustrating experience. Read for a bit to calm down, then went to sleep.
