03-10-2026 Entry

Woke up after the roughest night I've had in some time. Felt better, still queasy but not as bad. Showered and shaved, then I made the mistake of eating breakfast. Even though I ate light and bland, it didn't sit that well in my stomach. After breakfast I went back to the room and laid down, felt a little better. No more food for a while seems like a good recipe. The ship was heading back by this time, I walked out to the front deck and enjoyed the air, felt a little better. Skipped lunch, didn't miss it. We arrived back at the dock a little before 11:00 and waited in the waiting room for our bus for an hour. Thankfully we were the last ones on the bus, so we were right on our way. I closed my eyes and listened to music for the first half of the ride, then we stopped at a place where they were selling bamboo, silk, and coconut fiber items. Even had to sit in on a sales pitch for the wonders of bamboo fiber (Happy Landing). Back on the bus, which took us to the old Quarter of Hanoi and dropped us off. I listened to an old TAL podcast in the bus after the break, and we were thankfully among the first to be dropped off, in the Old Quarter. We walked around a bit, got a couple of croissants to eat (I was still managing my calorie intake carefully), then called a Grab to take us back to the airport. We got there early, too early, and ended up waiting for a while before we boarded our flight to Hue. The flight went smoothly, and we landed in Hue in the evening. Took a Grab to the address for our Airbnb, it was lightly raining, and we had a little difficulty locating the place, which was off the main street. It is deluxe, very spacious, fairly well-stocked. Got there and settled in for the night.
