Ride in the afternoon from work with Blair, after having ridden in. We headed over Bernardo Center Dr to Camino del Norte and took it up to Carmel Mountain Rd. I noticed that the wind was pretty brisk, coming from the southwest. Down to Rancho Carmel Dr, turning left there and riding down to the beginning of the 56 bike path before turning around and heading back to the corner by Oggi's to wait for meeting up with Justin Albert. Once he arrived, we got onto the 56 bike path and took it all the way down to Camino del Sur. I was out ahead for much of the non-downhill sections here. Turned at that intersection and started heading back toward work, again with me getting out ahead and pausing at times to join up with the others. This was the M.O. all the way back to the intersection with Bernardo Center Dr, where Justin continued straight and we headed back to the starting point. I picked up my backpack from Blair's car and then rode home the normal way. The wind was quite helpful on the climb back up Camino del Sur, where it felt like someone was giving us a small push. Felt good on the ride, the miles I have been putting in are starting to make the courses seem a little flatter. Justin also had a stronger ride than our last time riding together, and Blair is shaping up as well. On this relatively easy-paced ride, my average heartrate, as measured by my Fitbit, was below 100 bpm.
Avg speed = 15.4 mph Total mileage = 20.3 mi
Avg power = 123 W. Weighted avg power = 159 W
Total elevation gain = 1180'
Avg heartrate = 99 bpm
