11-10-2023 Ride

Had a fairly quiet morning at Kathy's house, then they decided to go see a movie, Priscilla. No interest from me, so I decided to go for a bike ride. The weather was overcast but not raining. I put my rain jacket on and headed out to Mason Rd, turning left and riding up to Schiel Rd. Turned left there after having noticed I was riding into a noticeable headwind. Rode over to Mueschke Rd and turned left there with the intent to work hard on the way out. Stayed on this road, which was four-lane and fine past Grand Pkwy. Then it got down to two-lane with a turn lane in the middle and not much shoulder, this was Grand Pines Dr. I got through that section and made it to a stretch with more of a shoulder, this was Nicholls Sawmill Rd. When I got past 12 miles out, I looked for a place to turn around, as I was ready to be done and it was sprinkling just a little bit. On the way back, for much of it I had the wind at my back and made good time, still having enough legs to push the pace. Rode the return a lot faster than the way out, felt good to be tooling along at 23-25 mph.

Avg speed = 18.3 mph. Total mileage = 25.7 mi
Avg power = 179 W. Weighted avg power = 184 W
Total elevation gain = 370'
Avg heartrate = 136 bpm

In the evening, we went out for TexMex food at Lupe Tortilla Restaurant, starting with drinks while we waited for a table and for Ben, Melody, and the twins to show up. The dinner was pretty good, and I talked with Ben for most of the time, about their rental properties, sports, and his growing interest in pickleball. Apparently, he's pretty good at it. We continued the conversation back at Kathy's house after dinner and got to hear a lot more about the girls and their activities. Nice evening.
