02-09-2025 Ride

Woke up, getting a little extra sleep after the cat woke me up early (<>). I ate some cereal and then got ready for a morning bike ride while Ann was at church. I rode up Aguamiel Rd and took Duenda Rd to Escala Rd, taking it down and then up to Pomerado Rd. That climb is short but steep. I rode down to Highland Valley Rd and took it on the flats out and back, keeping a slower pace. When I got back to Pomerado Rd, I turned left and rode up to Greens East Rd, turning there and riding through the RB Inn parking lot to get to Bernardo Oaks Dr. I rode through the retirement neighborhood all the way to Lomica Dr, turning left and riding over to Higa Pl and then up to Pomerado Rd. I crossed over to Ave Valencia. Up to Del Norte, turning right and riding up to Stone Canyon Rd, which I took back down to Pomerado Rd. Up to Bernardo Heights Pkwy, then slowly up this little climb to Paseo Lucido. I turned left and rode over to Camino del Norte. Up and down to the freeway, staying on this road until I got to Dove Canyon Rd. Back home through the neighborhood, for an easy-paced Sunday ride.

When I got home I glued the nosepiece of my sunglasses, then I placed a Temu order for some bike stuff. Went in the back yard and did some backyard cleanup of the ground by the west gate. I raked up the wood chips, put them in a trash bin, then turned over the earth (which is quite moist) to get rid of the weeds. Also moved out the paving stones that serve as a walkway between the path and the gate. My intention is to cover this area with ground cloth, then put the pavers and wood chips back over it. Later, I found a way to watch the Super Bowl, on Tubi. The game wasn't very good, the Chiefs were clearly outmatched and, surprisingly, outcoached. I watched the first half, saw Kendrick Perkins in the halftime show (not my kind of music), and watched a little bit of the second half before it became clear that this was not going to be a competitive game. I quit watching then and did some computer code fixing instead.

Update on reading. I finished the book Deadman Switch by Timothy Zahn, it wasn't super great but was mildly enjoyable. Then I started reading Three Ring Circus, by Jeff Pearlman, about the early years of Kobe Bryant's time with the Lakers, including when Shaq and Phil Jackson were there. It's an entertaining read.
