02-19-2025 Ride

Woke up (<>) and took a little time to get ready for a bike ride. This was planned to be a ~20 mile ride at easy pace. I initially rode the time trial route until I got to Scripps-Poway Pkwy, where I continued straight and rode up Pomerado Rd until turning onto Stonebridge Pkwy. I was intentionally slow on the climb up to this turn, then slow on the climbs up to the top of the road. Legs were definitely tired from the previous day's long ride. The downhill section was fun, but the last little climbs on the Stonebridge Pkwy return were kinda painful. I made pretty good time on the Poway Rd return, maybe helped by a slight tailwind. Back to RB Rd, then home via the W Bernardo Dr route.

Avg speed = 15.3 mph (15.4 mph). Total mileage = 26.2 mi
Avg power = 136 W. Weighted avg power = 164 W
Total elevation gain = 2160' (2260')
Avg heartrate = 116 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 29 (29)
Training Load = 102
Intensity = 75%

I was home early enough to have a little time to rest, and get my hair cut, before I headed over to do my volunteer shift at the hospital. On the way over, I stopped at Unicorn Jewelry and picked up my ring. They did a good job on it, it looks nice and shiny. Will keep it more as an heirloom and wear it for special occasions. The hospital shift was fairly busy throughout. At one point, I helped Johnny try to insert an NG tube down a lady's throat, but two tries were unsuccessful. It was intense there for a bit. The rest of the shift was normal tasks. I did talk for a while with a guy who was in the ED, he was paraplegic, and it underscored for me the thin line between a good life and one that is quickly upended. Got home and started laying out my stuff to pack up. Watched a little TV in the evening, but I was pretty tired from the day.
