12-06-2023 Ride

Solo ride over to the Sabre Springs Transit Center, taking Aguamiel Rd to Duenda Rd and then Bernardo Center Dr to Bernardo Heights Pkwy.  Up to Paseo Lucido, then Carmel Mountain Rd to Rancho Carmel Dr.  I got there a few minutes before John showed up, then we rode over to the 56 bike path and took it down to El Camino Real.  Weather was cool but not too cold at the start.  By the time we got to Carmel Valley Rd, I had taken off my headband.  We had to wait through three cycles at that light, until the cars moved up and triggered the turn signal.  Over to PCH, then left to ride down to the beach and up the inside route of Torrey Pines.  I took it slow throughout this ride, was also dealing with a rear brake pad that was intermittently rubbing.  Up to the top, where we regrouped, then went down the outside route.  John got ahead of me, but I caught up with him on the way back to Carmel Valley Rd.  We retraced our route back to the meet-up point, and John started to run out of gas on the little climb up to Black Mountain Rd.  But we were almost done.  Then I rode back home the same way, except that I rode to Azucar Way and then up Cresciente Way to Aguacate Way to loop around in an unsuccessful attempt to get to 3000' of elevation gain.  Later on, I was able to loosen the bolts on my rear disc brake and reset its position for the disc to be more centered between the pads.

Avg speed = 14.5 mph. Total mileage = 43.5 mi
Avg power = 136 W. Weighted avg power = 162 W
Total elevation gain = 2960'
Avg heartrate = 125 bpm

Ann bought the plane tickets for our trip to Europe in March/April.
