Went for an hour-long walk in the morning after sleeping in, then followed it up with a bike ride. I had just a vague notion of where I was going to ride, heading through the neighborhood to Matinal Rd and then to W Bernardo Dr. Over to RB Rd, where I followed the old time trial route up to Espola Rd and then to Poway Rd. Weather was fairly warm by the time I started, which was nice. I took the climb up to Poway Rd slowly. Then I rode down to Community Rd, turning left there and taking it up to Kirkham Rd. This was the longest climb of the day, a little over a mile and steep in some parts. Then I took Kirkham Rd back to Scripps-Poway Pkwy to ride down to Pomerado Rd. Over to Oak Knoll Rd, using it to get back to Poway Rd, and staying on the old time trial route from there for a while. I wasn't consistently riding at high output, but I put in a good climb to get up Community Rd, and my ride on Ted Williams Pkwy wasn't bad. Back home via Bernardo Center Dr off of RB Rd. Finished the ride feeling fresh and refreshed.

In the early afternoon, we met Johnnie and Michael at Altipiano Winery off Highland Valley Rd. Ann and I had stopped at Barron's beforehand and gotten some stuff for lunch snacking. The wines there were okay, and the atmosphere was casual. We were the first ones to be seated, but it got more crowded as the afternoon wore on. One of the owners, Peter, stopped by the table and shared a couple of stories with us, and Johnnie mentioned that his wife is Black and the winemaker, a not-so-common combination. Looks like we may spend New Year's Eve with Johnnie and Michael down at La Jolla Shores, more planning to occur.
