Not a great day. Ann was mad at me for checking out of the Christmas celebration after dinner. It's going to be tense for a few days. In the morning, I rode over to the parking lot by Marco's Pizza and met up with Rob and Gio for a chill mini-Bisikleta ride. We headed down by the park and then up Pomerado Rd to Twin Peaks Rd, turning left there and riding up to Community Rd. Took it over to Metate Ln and used that road to get to Pomerado Rd. Up to Scripps-Poway Pkwy, taking this climb (the only significant one in the ride) up to Springbrook Dr, where we stopped for a short break before continuing down to Sabre Springs Pkwy. Then it was over to the 56 bike path, which we took to Salmon River Rd, using it to get to Paseo Montalban and then to Black Mountain Rd. Up to Carmel Valley Rd, where Rob turned right and headed back home (he had ridden to the starting point) while Gio and I turned left and rode down to Camino del Sur. From here, it was the normal way back for me via RB Rd and W Bernardo Dr. Gio and I chatted for a couple of minutes at the end, then I rode home. No sustained effort on my part to go hard on this ride, although I did push myself a little bit on the Scripps-Poway climb and on the little stretch up to Carmel Valley Rd.

Was pretty quiet the rest of the day. I went for a walk in the afternoon for about 30 minutes, after finishing Nemesis Gate. In this book, we get to learn more of the back stories of the crew of the Rocinante, as Amos goes back to Earth to learn more about the passing of his guardian Lydia and ends up getting Clarissa Mao out of prison as the Earth is devastated by directed meteor impacts. Alex travels to Mars, where he hooks up with Bobbie Draper and eventually helps to rescue Naomi from OPA terrorists led by Marco Inaros, her old lover and the father of her son Filip. Meanwhile, Holden is on Tycho Station with Fred Johnson overseeing the repairs to his ship and foiling a plot to destroy it and the base. Then I started Stephen King's Elevation, a fairly short novel.
