02-16-2024 Swim/Ride

Went for a swim at the WWC when it opened, 3000 yds (I think, may have been 2950) in 59:50.  This was pretty close to my near-term goal of being able to swim this distance in under an hour. So it's either done or doable.  I swam the last 1000 yds without pads or snorkel, the first 2000 with standard protocol.  My left shoulder was bothering me when I was swimming with swim pads, so I didn't want to overstress it.  I talked to Kevin, one of the other regular swimmers, when I finished, and he complimented me on my ability to swim steadily for an hour.  He said we should go ocean swimming in the summer, sounds like it could be an interesting experience.  I'll need a lot more practice and some individual sessions in the ocean before I go out there with him and others.  Had a little nap when I got home, and then Ann and I drove down to Mission Bay with our cruisers, had a quick picnic lunch, and rode along the coast down to PB (and a little beyond) and back, then a short stretch on the bay side.

Total mileage = 6.8 mi
Total elevation gain = 40'

After we got home and I unloaded the bikes, I saw that the replacement propane hose had arrived, so I went into the garage and set it up.  It didn't work, which caused me to check the propane tank fitting, which was somewhat loose.  Once I tightened that fitting up, it worked, as did the original hose.  So that was probably the issue all along.  In any case, we are back in business, it looks like.  Later in the afternoon, I went for an hourlong walk to get my steps in.
