Got up and had some breakfast, no real rush to get my ride started because it was going to be a cooler day. I decided to ride a little faster, aiming for more Zone 2 than Zone 1 and little Zone 3. Largely successful. I headed through the neighborhood and then through the 4S Ranch neighborhood the short way to get to Camino del Sur. Then I took it to San Dieguito Rd, down the hill, where I found the newly paved road taking me over to Camino del Sur. Another rider passed me while I was cruising along, so I decided to get on his wheel and follow him to the turn. At the turn I thanked him for the pull and decided to dial my pace back. Headed up the hill into Del Mar Heights, slowly, then took the slight downhill over to the 56 bike path. From there, I rode back to Camino del Sur at moderate pace, not pushing it too much but not going slowly either. I rode back home the normal way from there, using the Camino San Bernardo and W Bernardo Dr route. Not too tired at the end, and it felt good to be out in ideal riding weather.

I had a couple of planned tasks lined up for the day, starting with painting the door from the house into the garage. Before doing that, Ann and I reviewed the roofer and painter quotes and agreed on which ones to go forward with. The door painting went fairly quickly, it really needed a new coat, as did the trim, which took a fair amount longer and was not as enjoyable. Still, I got it all done, then started on the next task, lubricating the front fork on my old bike. That one also went fine, although it seems like the tightness of the bolt tensioning the fork is not so high. But everything seems to be solid there, so I'll keep an eye on it. I also made a minor adjustment to the cable tension on the rear derailleur, and now the shifting it butter-smooth. It's ready for taking on the camping trip next week. We may have to find another spot beside Sequoia NP, due to wildfires in that area. Will check later this week, since we would need to cancel the camping reservation on Saturday to get a partial refund. The rest of the day was light duty and a little boring. I'm getting cabin fever from the COVID isolation, even with the exercise outings. Ann went to the Pink concert at Petco Park, her seats were six rows down from the very top of the stadium. I didn't have anything else to do, so I went for a walk right around sunset, a little over a mile. Was a nice night for a walk.
