Woke up and got ready for a swim at the WWC. But I was slow in getting ready, so I decided to wait a bit and head over around 9:00. Did some work file transfer stuff before riding over, and it was decidedly warmer when I went. I swam a 500 pretty fast, in about 9:05, then I swam 5 100s at tempo. The first one felt good, about 1:35. The others were in the 1:40 to 1:45 range, but I could tell that my form was significantly degrading. After that exercise, I swam another 500, but my arms were tired and, again, form was ragged. Stroke count was 20-21 for most of the last 500. On this day, I didn't dive as deep on the pushoffs, got up and stroking faster. Finished the last 500 in about 9:30, I think. Then I changed into running shorts and did the reverse of the 5k route I've mapped from the WWC. Started out faster than I expected I would be, so I kept the pace going (second mile was a tad slower). This route has the opportunity for a faster finish, and my last mile was the fastest.
Total distance = 3.17 mi
Avg pace = 7:32/mi
Elapsed running time = 23:54
Avg heartrate = 144 bpm
When I got home, it was another easy planned day. I spent a lot of time organizing work files for the transfer to their new HDD home. I also cleaned and waxed my new chain for the Fuji bike, since I don't think the initial waxing job was complete. Talked to both Ben and Mark in the afternoon about the situation with Mom. That was about it for useful activities during the day. We went to a pizza place, Bongiorno's, in Poway for dinner, it was pretty good. Then we had a beer at the Hop Stop before watching Gregory Page in concert at the Templar's Hall. He put on a good show. We got there super early to stake out good seats and had the chance to talk with him just a little bit. Also chatted with Dick Jay, the emcee for these SD Folk Heritage Society concerts. Home before 10:00, which is much preferred on a Friday night.
