01-19-2025 Run

Slept pretty late (<>) and then went down for a short breakfast conversation before dressing to go out for a run. It was 30 and windy, so I put on double socks and tights, also wore my Oilers warmup jacket. I picked a route that was into the wind, and it was definitely cold on my face. My hands were also a little cold. I ran north on a Mason Rd for a while until I got close to 2 miles, then I turned around and ran back toward Kathy's house, running around the block to get up to 4 miles. Felt much better on the way back with a tailwind, I even took my gloves off.

I ate a little when I got back, had some coffee, then took a shower. We went over to see the new rental house that Ben and Melody have fixed up, the went to their house to check their two dogs were doing okay. We had lunch at a decent Tex-Mex restaurant near Kathy's house, I ate too much. After lunch, we drove over to the nearby open-air outlet mall and walked around. It was kinda boring, but I appreciated the walk. I had a little nap after we got back, then I read for a bit. Watched the first half of the Bills-Ravens game, then I ate a light dinner with Kathy and Heather and watched the fourth quarter of the game. It was a quiet evening.

Update on reading. I finished The Mercy of Gods. It was a good read, had some promise near the end of future good outcomes for mankind, although currently they are subjugated by the Carryx race. I started reading Deacon King Kong, by James Mcbride. It takes place in the New York City projects and centers around a character, Sportcoat, who is a ne'er-do-well in a richly described landscape of other characters and actions.
