It rained in the night, so I wasn't planning on riding in the morning. Instead, I rode over to the WWC and planned on a swim and a run afterwards. My intent was to swim 2500 yds, so I started off at an easier pace than usual. I didn't slow down as much during the swim, but I kept losing track of my laps, and there were a lot of other swimmers in the pool that added a minor distraction, so I ended up swimming 2800 yds, the longest distance for me in quite a while. Finished in under 56 minutes, so an old goal of mine of swimming 3000 yds in under an hour is well within reach. Here are the 500 yd splits, last one was 300 yds: 9:44, 9:45, 9:57, 9:54, 10:09, 5:59. It was overcast during the swim but I don't think it rained. I changed into my running clothes and ran the 5k loop twice. I got sprinkled on for about the first 2.5k, then it stopped. Again, I started out at a slower pace, saving energy for the longer distance. That energy helped me run the second half significantly faster than the first half. Legs held up, no muscle pain, but I need some running socks with more cushion when I do these longer distances.
Total distance = 6.27 mi
Avg pace = 8:33/mi
Elapsed running time = 53:55
Avg heartrate = 139 bpm (Coospo)
When I got back home, I was hungry but waited a little bit and had lunch later. In the early afternoon, I rode my scooter over to Home Depot and picked up some fresh, heavyweight spackling compound as well as wall texture spray for the repair to the plaster by the skylight. Ann and I had picked up an extension ladder from Jim over the weekend, so the next step is to apply the patch, then paint. I also swapped out a patched inner tube for an unpatched one on my new bike, all went well. Evening was quiet.
