01-30-2025 Swim/Run

Woke up after having some stress dreams related to our conversation with Laura the previous evening. I'm so glad I'm not working any more. Cleaned the kitchen and then got ready for a swim at the WWC. I tried out a stroke style of holding my trailing hand back while I pushed with my leading hand. It felt smoother, and I was able to reduce my stroke count, but it is definitely more of a cardio workout to follow this stroke. I couldn't keep it going consistently, tried using it at times throughout the swim. Here are my splits for 3 500s, a 150, and a 250 (with the push buoy): 9:13, 9:45, 9:54, 2:50, 4:34. I did take a short break before the last 250. Think I need weight training to build my upper body strength for a more consistently powerful stroke, but I'm not a fan of the weight room. When I got home, Ann was working out the current state of our finances. I watched a little TV, had some lunch, and worked on cleaning up the archived photo files on my phone. Ann went to play Mah-Jongg in the afternoon, and I went to Home Depot to pick up a couple of small paint rollers for painting around the skylight. Later, I went for a run down by the park. Walked down the hill and started running when it flattened out. I ran to the park and then did three laps around it before running back to Aguamiel Rd and its flat section. Felt good, each mile was faster than the previous one. I walked up the hill to the house.

Avg pace = 7:32/mi
Total distance = 3.72 mi
Elapsed moving time = 28:03
Avg heartrate = 149 bpm (Coospo)
Relative Effort = 38

Not much done after I got home. Ann was still gone. Read some more. After dinner, we watched a couple of hours of the FireAid concert. Joni Mitchell's performance was sweet; her voice is gone, but her intonation is still rich. The other old performers were mostly cringey, John Mayer's set was good, as was P1nk. Earth, Wind & Fire was also decent but on the ragged edge with their voices.
