Got up for an early hike with loaded backpack, including trekking poles to see if they would stay put. Hiked around the neighborhood for a little over an hour. Then I got ready to go to the WWC for a swim when it opened. I was in the water when Avi called to me over the fence, so I went out and got him. All the lanes were take so we shared one. I practiced lengthening my stroke with some success, but it is a bigger workout for me, so I took lots of breaks. We also did some speed training with the swim pads, and that was quite tiring. Longer breaks there between 50s, mostly. Then we did some 100s to lengthen the effort, and that took energy. I borrowed his swim buoy to help me focus on my stroke. Need to get one for myself. We finished with a 500, approximately. We both lost count of the laps, so we might have added a lap. Did that in over 10 minutes, which would be slow for a 500 for me. I had fewer strokes at the beginning than at the end, when I was tiring out. I counted it as 1500 yds, but I'm not sure of the real distance or time. This was a swim workout that I really felt in my shoulders throughout the day. Had some breakfast when I got home. Ann and the others went to the botanical gardens, and I stayed home. I worked on the sprinklers, repairing a number of spray nozzles that had clogged. The bed closest to the house now is operating as designed, so I turned it back on. Did some Python program reading online about interactive charts with mpld3. That's going to be challenging. Got a burrito for lunch from Cotijas. In the afternoon, I tried to get my new chain to work without skipping, no luck. I ended up ordering a new rear cassette, maybe that will solve the problem. Read in the afternoon as well and watched some TV, including swimming. Quiet evening.
