Woke up after making it through the night without having to get up and pee. I rode down to where the car was parked and drove it back to the campsite, then I read for a while and dozed. Got up around 7:30 and made breakfast, it was a very quiet morning. Ann was mad at me for not walking with her at her pace the previous night, and I expressed my frustration at her walking pace and the way I was feeling then. So it was a tense time. Later in the morning she drove to walk around San Clemente Old Town. I decided to go for a bike ride to clear my head. While getting ready, I had a lot of trouble closing the tent zipper and thought it might turn into a big problem. So I texted Ann to try and find some paraffin wax to grease up the zipper parts. On the ride, I got on to El Camino Real from the beach area and rode north for about 7 miles before turning onto Camino Capistrano and heading inland. I rode out until I had about 13 miles then turned around and retraced my route. The wind helped some on the way out, and the elevation helped on the way back. I could have ridden faster but was okay with my pace and average power output. It was a nice day, cloudy at the start and sunny (starting to get warm) by the end.
Avg speed = 16.9 mph. Total mileage = 25.7 mi
Avg power = 135 W. Weighted Avg power = 152 W
Total elevation gain = 620'
Avg heartrate = 119 bpm (Coospo), 116 (Fitbit)
It was a quiet afternoon, Ann was still miffed at me, so we kept our distance and chilled out around the campsite. She did bring back some paraffin (a lot of it), and the tent zipper worked much better after I lubricated the zips. Did the same for the vestibule tent flap. We made peach cobbler together, although it was a transactional thing. The cobbler was pretty good, it got a little burnt on the top but the flavor wasn't affected. Later in the afternoon, we walked down to the beach, and I sat there with her for a while before she went for a walk. When she came back, I headed back to the campsite, had enough direct sunlight for the day. It was a little better with us as we made dinner together, Dutch oven lasagna. It was delicious. I had had a long day, so after dinner I took a shower and then read in the tent for a while before going to sleep early.
