06/06/2024 Swim/Run/Ride

Woke up (<>) and got ready to head over to the WWC for a swim followed by a run. This was my first time since the new weekday morning opening time moved to 7:30, which allowed me time for the run before meeting for coffee with Gary and Brooke. 2000 yds in just under 39 minutes, and at times I felt like I was in a good pattern, still need to regulate my breathing better when using the snorkel. Then I put my stuff in a locker and headed out for the neighborhood 5k route from the WWC. I modified it a bit, since they were tearing up Hada Dr and I wanted to avoid the mess. Intentionally ran more slowly than last time, and I also think I felt the effects of the swim effort. Fitbit started automatically, so it didn't capture the entire run.

Avg pace = 7:54/mi
Total distance = 3.11 mi
Elapsed moving time = 24:36
Avg heartrate = 159 bpm (Fitbit)

Finishing the run, I saw I didn't have enough time to take a shower before heading over to HP for coffee, so I got changed and rode over there to meet Gary and Brooke. Some further discussion about planning for the upcoming move to the Tech Center, and conversation about the pleasure of camping (Gary not so much, Brooke a long-time RV camper with her folks). After I got home, I had some breakfast. Then Ann and I ran some errands, stopping at The Home Depot to get some plants (mine for the wood chip beds in the backyard), then shopping at Stater Bros and Aldi. When I got home, I had a little nap and did some reading before booking a TSA Pre Check appointment for Friday. Later in the afternoon, I rode over to HP for a short ride with Blair, who is still recovering from the burst eardrum he got in Hawaii. Headed through the neighborhood to RB Rd, then over Via del Campo to W Bernardo Dr and to the back parking lot taking the long way around the campus. From there, we headed back to W Bernardo Dr, then down to RB Rd, where we turned right. Up until we joined the old time trial route, which we followed, past Poway HS with its graduation ceremony, to Twin Peaks Rd. Turned right and took it and Camino del Norte back to Bernardo Center Dr, and thus back to the site. I stayed in Zone 2 for more of this ride than normal, matching my pace to Blair's, who was being cautious on his first significant ride in a while. After getting back, I headed home the normal way. It was a fairly windy day, and riding into the wind when we were heading west was a particular chore.

Avg speed = 14.0 mph. Total mileage = 18.5 mi
Avg power = 116 W. Weighted avg power = 147 W
Total elevation gain = 1270'
Avg heartrate = 110 bpm (Coospo), 126 bpm (Fitbit, measuring high)

Got home, Ann had already eaten. She has fallen again, the third time (that I know of) in less than a month, this time turning her ankle. She needs to see her PCP and find out what could be causing these balance/walking issues. We also got a fraudulent usage alert for our MasterCard credit cards, so we had to cut them both up and await new ones. Yuk! I finished watching Dune Part 2. It followed the storyline of the first book and left the door wide open for continuing sequels.
