Woke up and had some breakfast before riding over to the WWC to meet Avi for a swim. It was my endurance day, so I swam the normal 2000 yd protocol without stopping. Finished in about 37 min, I think I counted my laps correctly. This was my fastest time at this distance. I felt really exhausted on the sixth length of the pool, especially in my legs, but I pushed through it and kept going, although at a slower pace. Was around 24 strokes per length in the first half and 28 strokes in the last 500 yds. So there is definitely more work to be done to increase my ability to keep my stroke count down. Then I headed home, had a little more food, and started to work on bike stuff in the garage while the gas line replacement crew was in front of our house. I swapped the front and back tires on my new bike, replaced the left shifter battery, and cleaned the cassette and chainrings with the pipe cleaners that Blair gave me. Next, I started the deep clean of the drivetrain on my old bike, which entailed cleaning the chain thoroughly, then setting it to soak in mineral spirits overnight. I also removed the cassette and took it apart to clean it well, it's about as clean as it has been in a long time. Also cleaned off the chainrings and the jockey wheels on the rear derailleur. This weekend, I'll wax the chain and put it back on. While in the garage, I put some more stuff in my backpack, including the things needed to make tea for me and Joe on our hike tomorrow morning. I watched some TV in the early afternoon, and later in the afternoon I rode over to meet Blair for a bike ride. Through the neighborhood to Matinal Rd, then over to W Bernardo Dr and a straight shot to HP from there. My bike is still creaking, and I think it's in the front fork. When it's creaking, the creaking goes away when I remove my hands from the handlebars. The noise comes and goes too, not sure why. Once we met up in the back parking lot, we headed out Bernardo Center Dr and down the hill to get to Carmel Valley Rd, taking these little climbs fairly slowly. I was trying to stay in Zones 1 and 2 for most of this ride, was generally successful. We ended up staying on this road all the way down to the 56 bike path. Blair said he was feeling good, so we stretched the distance a little bit. Then we took the bike path all the way back to Salmon River Rd, using it to get over to Paseo Montalban and then to Black Mountain Rd. Blair was tiring by this point, I could tell, so we slowed down and kept going. Back up to Carmel Valley Rd, and from there we retraced our route back to the meet-up point. It was actually a nice day, not too hot but a little breezy. Home for me the normal way, and I felt fine at the end.

I ate dinner when I got home, with Kathy and Heather, Ann wasn't hungry. Then it was a quiet evening. I did take pictures of the layout of our front yard for documentation purposes, in the event that they come into the yard and start disrupting things. (<>!)
