06-05-2025 Swim/Walk
Woke up after a decent night's sleep (<!>) and had some time for breakfast, yogurt with homemade granola. Then I headed over to the WWC for a swim. Not so many showing up at the summer opening time yet. I forgot my camera, so I decided to swim 3 500s and time myself using the pool clock. First two were without aids, and I used the pull buoy for the last one, which definitely helped. Here are the splits: 9:30, 9:18, 8:55. Felt really good on the last 500, where my stroke count was 18-20 throughout. When I got home, I fixed the giant leak in sprinkler line 8 by replacing a long section of old, sun-degraded tubing. Talked to Gideon about buying the wetsuit I borrowed from him, but it might be too expensive for my taste, after looking at the price. Then I replaced the base for the security camera in the garage with the one I glued together and sanded, then used some shims to angle it for a better view of the garage. I also enabled the two cameras and their detection modes to see how well they work. Later, Ann and I drove to Chan Dara Thai restaurant in Escondido and met John, Vivian, Dennis, and Karen for lunch. Was, as usual, a very good time. We stopped at Home Depot after lunch and got more lumber and hardware for the second vegetable garden. Once home, I cut points into the posts and set six tall ones to serve as the holders for the shade cover. Then I set two other shorter posts and wrapped the plastic barrier fence around the garden perimeter, using zip ties to hold things in place. Fence and posts look serviceable, but I'll wait until it gets hot before putting the shade cover up. Had a little free time before dinner, then I took a 2-mile walk after dinner to get my steps in. Watched some TV and called it a day.
